SWOT technique is well established and is used in qualitative manner to understand – ‘Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities & Threats’ in an organization. For any management then appropriate actions can easily be decided.
In an ISO management system, there is a requirement for assessing risks and opportunities arising from external and internal issues, that it has in achieving its intended outcome. It is also required for interested parties needs and expectations. SWOT technique can be used for this purpose.
A SWOT template on excel has been developed for carrying out assessment of risks and opportunities for external and internal issues. The same is shared herewith for your use. It is very simple.
When you use the template, just remember that once an issue has been determined as ‘strength’ ‘weakness’ ‘opportunity’ or ‘threat’ – you need to proceed to determine actions. Keep your curser on relevant cell (one of the fours), read the message of guidance that appears, and then type in your decision in the same cell only. Leave other three blanks, as such.
